In 1945, Dr. Fritz Sennheiser together with seven engineers and technicians set out on the venture to found a new company. The research and development specialists converted their university institute, which had been moved during the war to the small village of Wennebostel, into what became known as 'Labor W', and it was there that they began to build measuring instruments. Less than a year later, microphones were added to their product range, and soon the resourceful team became extremely successful in numerous fields of audio technology. Those were the humble beginnings of Sennheiser electronic, now a worldwide group of companies with more than 1,600 employees and one of the world's leading manufacturers of complete audio solutions. "Sennheiser really delivers!" 2010-04-03
By R. Gajjar (Newbury Park, CA USA)
I purchased these headphones for my daughter who uses it with her iPod Nano and also Line6 guitar amplifier. She is extremely happy with it. I've listened to them on the iPod and the sound quality is excellent. I don't believe that one can buy a better product for $20.

"Good for the price" 2010-04-01
By B. Branum
I bought these to play video games with and not disturb my roommate. Some people don't enjoy it sounding like a constant war zone in their home. Who knew? I feel like this is a decent set of headphones for the price. I haven't been easy on them and this includes throwing them in a fit of rage. I was sure I'd broken them after one such incident, but the "phone" I knocked off popped right back on. This is a good product for you if you don't want to spend a lot of money.

"Great for the price!" 2010-04-01

You don't need to spend a fortune for great sound and comfort. Look no further than these fantastic headphones. Why waste money on BOSE when you can get the similar quality for a quarter of the price? Give these a try and I doubt they will disappoint.

"DO NOT BUY!!! WARNING!!!" 2009-11-05
By Jill
Unfortunately, I bought this unit- 2 years ago. Out of the brand, new box, the unit DID NOT WORK!!! Still under warranty, I sent it back--- received a REFURBISHED one in return--- after spending the small fortune on this thing!!!

It worked for a little while--- then a year later-- after only using it about a dozen times-- it stopped working!! I did not abuse the unit, did NOT drop it, always kept it horizontal, on a flat surface, and like I mentioned only used it a dozen times, if that.

Contacted Toshiba--- they want 125. dollars to just take a look at it. Went to my local repair shop-- they said I needed a new laser assembly. They called me back-- saying Toshiba NO LONGER CARRIES THE PART!!!

I looked everywhere online... called several parts suppliers-- NO ONE HAS THIS PART!

I wonder why?? This unit is a LEMON!!! Under the law-- Toshiba must supply parts for their products beyond 2 years. This unit was manufactured in 2007!

Oh and... try calling their customer service line--- you get a run around like no other!

VERY DISAPPOINTED--- WILL NEVER BUY TOSHIBA AGAIN!

"Warning for DIVX users!" 2009-09-25
By C. Lemmonds (New Jersey)
Since I specifically require a portable dvd player to watch divX files, this review is catered to that purpose.

This unit advertises divX functionality, but then completely undermines the purpose of divX with a horrible limitation. If you're not familiar with DIVX or avi files in general - the purpose is to shrink video into a small file so you can fit more movies onto the media - often at a ratio of 4:1 (even higher for animated video). This comes in handy if you've got a long drive and you can't swap disks every time your kid yells that the movie's over. A forward-thinking parent looking for a divX-capable portable dvd player might look at the P2900's specs and think it's a perfect solution for playing divx dvds. Once they got the unit, however, they would be in for a rude awakening: the p2900 does not play divX dvd disks at all. It will only play divx CD media. If you do the math - you realize that this unit completely negates the purpose of divx. This 4:1 compression technology is limited to media that is less than 1/5th the capacity of your regular disks. It won't even play divX from the SD slot. It makes you wonder why they even bothered putting divX in this unit at all. Or an SD reader for that matter.

Either way - the misleading marketing and bone-headed specs for this product forces me to limit this unit to one star. I'll revise my rating if this limitation is just for my unit (though the manual's media graph confirms that divX is only read from CDR/RW media).

"Horrible in Vehicle" 2009-02-07
By Concerned
Bought this to put in our SUV for the kids to view. DO NOT BUY THIS FOR VEHICLE USE! It works very poorly in the vehicle. It constantly turns off and resets itself or stops. It will only go about 4 or 5 minutes before a problem develops. On the high end, it works nice in the house and the picture is good, but so are the televisions in our house. I am sorry I purchased this item.

I love this DVD player! The picture and color are great, but I did not enjoy it for long. It worked for about a week. I had a lot of trouble when I first received it with the battery. The battery pack would not hold a charge. I wasn't happy with the customer service at Amazon. The thirty day warranty starts when you place the order. I did not receive it for 2 weeks so when I realized the battery wasn't holding a charge....Amazon would NOT help me. I really wanted the dvd player for a LONG road trip with the kids...it just did not work out!

"Pro's & Con's" 2008-12-14
By Circuit Breaker (Bridge City, TX)
Pro's:
The picture is good and can be formated as to the aspect ratio.
The sound is louder than just about any laptop and is loud enough to be used in a car without headphones (if not competeing with the stero).
Con's:
The software is too old to read a SD-HC card (standard SD card is fine).
I haven't found an adaquate case for the player yet. It needs a case the size of a small laptop computer to hold this large player, AC adaptor, cables, DVD's ,and seat straps.
Overall:
I'm pleased with the player enough to recomend it to anyone needing a large screen but not wanting to invest in a small laptop computer.

I had this item less than a week when it stopped working. The charger that came with it was not the right size and would not insert into the charging port. I was disappointed with the display, which was grainy - at best. It was an absolute waste of money. A piece of crap.

"Sony DVP-FX930 portable DVD player" 2010-03-20
By A. York
I liked the DVD player when I first used it. It has a nice picture and worked well. I liked the screen which pivots. The buttons worked pretty well. The problem is that it QUIT working after 2 weeks! I called the seller, but he said he wasnt able to help me because I had not kept the original box. it was still under his 30 day warranty, but only with the original packaging. So, I have to go through Sony which is a big hassle because it is difficult to get through. I am very bummed that it quit working after just 2 weeks. NOT HAPPY

"Don't buy" 2010-03-11
By Mary Beth (USA)
Piece of junk--worked exactly 1 week past 90 day warranty. DO NOT buy this machine. Now they want me to pay $33 for a used machine to replace this one. That's a deal? And how long will the new unit work--93 days. For the amount of money I put out for this piece of equipment it is NOT worth it. Don't buy it. Was it a nice machine while it worked--oh yeah a beauty which I imagine is when the good reviews were made. But 90 days later it belongs in the trash.

"Screen goes blank after only 2 months of use" 2010-03-08
By T. Manes (Greer, SC)
Having read reviews of all types of portable DVD players I settled on this SONY model. The picture is good the sound is good. However, after only two months of use the screen goes black sometimes. We don't know when it will happen. We have an old Toshiba portable that has been to Africa and back and is still doing great. I thought SONY would be just as good, but this one is not.

"very happy" 2010-02-12
By Y. McDonald (Florida)
I bought this for my 2 and 6 year old girls, mainly for long plane trips (we already have one in our car). It was a great purchase and I love the long battery life. Though we would never watch it for such a long period at one sitting, sometimes we are not able to recharge it between movies. It's sleek and nice-looking (bought it in white). I personally like to travel with all its components, so the carrying bag has to be a little bigger to accommodate these. Would purchase again.

"Best portable DVD player I've owned" 2010-02-07
By tea jenny (Menlo Park, CA United States)
This Sony portable DVD player has a sharp picture with great color and sound quality. In addition to the remote control the player has a touch screen to do most of the features of the remote. It has never failed to play a disc, unlike my previous player, a Mintek. The screen size is large and it swivels to accomodate more than one viewer. I like to use headphones (not included) so as not to disturb other family members. I read numerous reviews and it was the only one I could find, at any price that was universally praised. It is an incredible price for a high level of quality.

"iPod Classic Bundle a GREAT bargain." 2010-03-22
By R. West (South Jordan, UT USA)
The Classic iPod bundle is a great package at a very reasonable price. I was delighted to find all that was packaged in the bundle. It would have cost much more had I purchased each item seperately. I am a first time iPod user so I didn't realize what accessories I might want for my new iPod, the bundle has been and continues to be very useful.

"great buy, just one issue..." 2010-03-10
By Brenda S. Weeaks (United States)
Great for sharing.... Real money saver.

The only problem I had was the *Retractable USB Data Sync Cable* wouldn't fit the Classic iPod. Tried off and on many times; decided not to force it... Would have been convenient to keep w/ the *USB Car Charger Power Adapter* in my car. Now I have to remember to take the *USB Dock Connector Data Cable* on trips. My loss for not getting back to the seller once received to request another....

All in all, great products...

"Initial plays CD+G (karaoke) format disks" 2009-09-22
By Craig Marco Polo
I like these 'Initial' dvd players because they play CD+G (karaoke) format disks; most other brands do not (Sony, Toshiba, Panasonic do not play CD+G). I own three Initial dvd players. The most recent Initial model 1731 dvd player arrived broken from seller DiscountJungle. Kudos to DiscountJungle for responding promptly and sending a prepaid shipping label for the return. I have usually had good luck with Initial; so I recommend this product and DiscountJungle.

"Big Disapointment" 2007-04-19
By N. Ainsworth (Highland, CA)
When I first purchased this portable DVD player I was quite pleased with it. The picture was clear and the sound came thru nicely. However, after just 6 months of use, it just stopped working. It keeps telling me "no disc". It has only been used by my daughter while sitting in the car so it has not been dropped or abused in anyway.
Now I know why it was on sale. I won't buy this brand again.

"Like the Energizer Bunny!!! Keeps going...." 2006-08-28
By Pam H. (Fredericksburg, VA)
Bought this 3-4 years ago before Portable DVD players became really popular. (I paid like $250+ for it.) It has taken a beating from my 3 yr old..kicking it many, many times, dropping it, etc. and it just keeps going. We mostly use it in the van, but also use the plug in adapter once in awhile. We've never used the battery. It has never skipped (only if the DVD is dirty so not a player problem). The only problem we are having right now is we need a new car adapter and will order one. I bought a second player for my older DD so she can watch her own movies (a Panasonic-only because it was really cheap) so I hope that one lasts just as long. I basically just use mine in the car. There were times that it didn't cut on, but I never power it off so what we do is turn the power button off and then back on and it's good to go. We really got our money's worth.
