I currently own an Archos MP3/video player and although it's nice (especially for video), it's just too big and heavy to comfortably fit in a pocket and has minimal battery life. So, I was searching for a MP3 player that would fit both of those needs especially portability as I am now doing a lot of yard work. I really like the Zen Mosaic, so small (about the size of my Volkswagen key case)and it has great battery life. The sound quality is better than expected especially through my earbuds. I'd suggest you buy the companion rubber case (Zen sells 3 different colored cases also on Amazon for around $10)as it is needed for durability. Don't install the small CD that comes with the unit as it is better just to use Windows Media Player. By the way, it connected flawlessly and created the desired playlists. The Zen gives you the option to delete songs and playlists from the device (unlike the Sony Walkman that my wife owns). My only gripe is that the instruction sheet that comes with the Mosaic is a mess. There are so many languages that the print is about 6 point. Even with a magnifying glass, the included diagram showing functions is unreadable. I finally just decided to just start pushing buttons until I figured everything out. Guess I should have known that to turn the unit on or off, one has to slide down the button on the right side though that was never explained anywhere. That button is really small and hard to grab especially with the case on the unit. All in all, for the money it's a nifty MP3 player. No regrets.
UPDATE: Forgot to mention that if you want a large viewing screen then this is not your product as the screen is very small. But, if you really need a lightweight MP3 player that holds a ton of songs, it's great.

This is the second Zen Mozaic that I have owned...I had the 4GB before and lost it! I was thrilled to find it with 16GB because that is plenty of storage for music, photos, etc. and since I previously owned a Mozaic I knew that it was a great little player. I am not crazy about the software BUT all you have to do is copy and paste your music files onto your player so you really don't even have to use the software! The size is fantastic...small enough to put in your pocket. The built in speaker is great...not too loud, but better than none at all!
I price compare and read reviews from many websites on everything I buy and this was the best deal on the best rated 16GB player. In my opinion Creative Zen makes a better product than either Apple or Microsoft for a much better price. My first player was a $250 Zune that crashed within 2 years. My kids have had Ipod Nanos that didn't last...my youngest has a 1GB Zen that I bought him 5 years ago that is still going strong!!!

If your one of those people like myself who really cant stand messing with itunes and the ipod, then this easy to use mp3 player is for you. Within 10minutes of opening it from its package i plugged it into my laptop, dragged over tons of music and that was that.....i can do that with anyones computer. I unplugged it and was ready to roll. Also a cool feature is it has a built in speaker which is sweet. I can even run without headphones on...what!? lol
I love this MP3 player, and you will too.

This player was an upgrade for me from my old 1GB Creative Zen Nano Plus. I went from having to rotate which songs in my collection were on my player because they didn't all fit, to being able to fit my entire library on this player, with plenty of room to spare! Overall, I find it to be a great little player. My main hesitation when purchasing it was the reports that it didn't have designated volume controls, and that you had to go into the menu in order adjust the volume. This was a big concern for me, since I use my player at the gym, and often want to adjust the volume with a single press of a button. Well, I'm happy to report that when the player is in "Now Playing" mode (which it defaults to whenever it's idle), the up and down arrows on the player control the volume. So while it is true that there are no designated volume buttons, you can very easily adjust volume with a single press of a button while listening to your music. The only time when the lack of designated volume controls becomes an issue is if you are listening to music while simultaneously perusing the menus (because while perusing menus, the up and down buttons are used to scroll, rather than to control volume).
A lot of reviews complained that the player interface is not user-friendly, but I haven't found that to be the case. The only thing that has taken some getting used to is that while the right arrow takes you into a menu, the left arrow does NOT take you back out of that menu (there is a separate "back" button for that purpose). So I still find myself hitting "left" to try to return to the previous menu, before remembering that I needed to press "back" instead. While it may not be intuitive, it's not a huge deal to me - I'm already starting to get used to it. I do agree with reviews that the power switch is very small. With the silicone skin on the player (like I have), you have to really dig your fingernail in there to control the power switch. If you're a nail biter with no fingernails at all, the power switch would very be hard to use (especially if you have the silicone skin). The other buttons for controlling the player are also fairly small, but I haven't had much trouble using them, and I think I have fairly average sized fingers (for a female).
Like others, I love the external speaker option. I use it to listen to music in bed at night (without having to worry about strangling myself with headphone wires in my sleep!). The sleep timer is great, too, for listening while falling asleep!
I haven't yet tried the Creative software that came with the player (and therefore haven't transferred over any video, so I can't speak to that). I've been using Windows Media Player to sync my music and photos, and it's worked flawlessly. My entire music library has transferred over, including all playlists, and song ratings. I just used Windows Media Player's sync options to select what I wanted to transfer. Once on the player, you can play all tracks, or play by album, artist, genre, or select a particular playlist to play. Basically any way you can listen on WMP you can also do on this player. And of course you can set the play mode (shuffle, repeat, etc.).
I also love the tiny size of this player. If you purchase the silicone skin and armband, it is great for the gym.
I do wish it had come with a wall charger, because when I travel I won't always have a computer with me to charge it from. I'm going to see if it's compatible with existing mini-USB wall chargers that I own for other electronics, but if not, it will probably mean another purchase.
Overall I'm very satisfied with this purchase.

Since there is no way for me to contact the seller and ask them a question and not a single review is saying if this payer can play songs by folder as you copy files onto the player's memory, I am asking this question here, in the review. Please, someone respond to me, I really wanna buy this player, but I will not if it can't play songs by folder (Sansa can not).
