"Terrific MP3 Player for my little niece" 2010-04-16
By Jennifer (MA)
I just purchased my second SandDisk Sansa Clip and am once again thrilled at the ease and sound of this little machine! I purchased a pink one a year ago for my 4 year old niece and just picked up a red one for my 3 year old niece. Now that they both enjoy music the "must have" their very own music! Well, this little thing not only makes me their all time Fave Aunt, but it saves me a fortune compared to other MP3 players! I was able to download music quickly and easily using windows media 11 (had to quickly update to 11), and then highlight and move from saved music file to SanDisk. No hassles, no problems! She is now wiggling to "Party in the USA", and "Somwhere over the Rainbow" as well as a few Elvis songs from her Fave Aunt! I did purchase bigger headphones for both units since the little ear buds that come with it just don't work in their little ears.

"Does as promises." 2010-04-14

I wish this was bigger since I have so much music, but this also looks silly with anything but compact earphone/buds. :P

"so happy I got this!" 2010-03-16
By R. Ferraro (Long Island, NY)
Love it! Nice sound, and really easy to use--even for an old lady like me who used to listen to everything on LP, CD, or tape.
I mostly use it for music when exercising, or for audio books. I can download them for free from my library, transfer them to the Clip, and then listen while I do chores or commute to work. The clip secures nicely to pockets/clothing.

To listen in my car, I got a cheap ($5) cassette adapter that goes in the tape player and attach the Clip and it plays through my radio.
What a great little device!

"Beware the dying OLED display!" 2010-03-16
By johnetx (Lubbock, TX USA)
I bough my red Sansa Clip in August of 2008. I was looking for a small mp3 player with bookmarking capabilities, so I could listen to audiobooks, followed by listening to music, then back to the books. Well Sandisk hit a homerun with this player...almost. I has been fantastic for listening to music, podcasts and audiobooks, in fact I used it for 2-3 hours per day at least 5 days per week for the last 1 1/2 years, listening in my work truck through a Satechi Soundfly fm transmitter (best one I've found). I liked the player so much I ended up buying 3 more which I gave away as Christmas gifts. I truly thought I'd found the Holy Grail of mp3 players! That is until about a month ago when the oled display started fading from right to left, and eventually disappearing altogether after 2-3 days. Now today I have essentially an Ipod Shuffle that's more difficult to navigate. Unfortunately I failed to memorize the button pushing steps needed to navigate through music, audiobooks, and podcasts, so it's really just a dud now. I did let Sandisk know of the problem, and although they were very responsive, they wouldn't replace the unit since it's out of warranty.

Now here's the real kicker for this review, and the main reason I want to warn other potential buyers. As it turns out, the blue led phosphors that are used in the Clip and Clip plus are the color with the shortest lifespan. The most common estimate I found was around 7,000 hours. And since I didn't know of oled displays' short lifespan, I always charged the Clip using my computer, totally unaware that the extra hours the display was on while hooked up to the pc was sucking the life out of the blue oleds! Sandisk REALLY needs to emphasize the importance of charging with a wall charger, NOT in the pc.

I gave the player 3 stars for my review to be fair, because when it worked, it was my favorite player ever. The minus 2 stars is for the premature dying of the display, rendering my beloved Clip a mere potato chip bag clip.

"why pay more?" 2010-02-22
By 2 Point Bob (Louisville, Colorado, USA)
This is a sweet little unit. I was originally was looking for the old iPod Shuffle Clip.
Going to the gym and having all the headphone cables hanging around my neck, getting tangled in my arms when lifting...what a PAIN!
I want something that I can clip to my hat, or my shirt collar.

So, as I'm perusing the web stores, looking for the old iPod clip. The price for that Apple device is between $75 and up.
It's and old iPod shuffle clip fer cryin' out loud.

I came across this little clip. Again, this was one of my, "well heck", the price is very good.
I went to the SanDisk website to check it out a little more.

Small, music shuffle, i can create play lists, (WOW), FM Radio? are you kidding???....Voice notes? What, I can record reminders to myself? COOL!!!

The sound isn't awesome with the headphones that come with the clip. Invest in some upgrade headphones or earbuds, and the sound is much, much, MUCH better.

The battery life....about 15 hours between charges.

The device doesn't work with iTunes. So learn how to convert your iTunes songs to mp3 or the other supported formats for this device.
