The Flip UltraHD Camcorder seems to be everything it claims to be, but one important drawback that noone mentions is how fragile it is. One accident and you may as well toss it. I bought one for a friend and on the second day, she accidentally dropped it, and it would no longer work. The warranty does not cover accidents. When I wrote to Flip Support to ask about paying to have it repaired, I was told "The lens, LCD screen, and USB arm are not repairable or replaceable parts of the camcorder." In other words, it cannot be repaired!

Overall, it's a decent camcorder. However, you must be aware of a couple of things before you buy this:
Cons
1. Must have a very steady hand when recording; there's absolutely NO image stabilization so even the slightest movement will result in a shaky recording.
2. The zoom is pathetic probably 2X at most.
3. When playing back footage on the Flip camcorder after recording, you CANNOT rewind or fast forward...you can only skip to the next recording...really ridiculous if you ask me.
4. No "low power" warning...just shuts off when the battery dies (very frustrating to not warn users).
5. Microphone doesn't pick up sound very well from people talking more than 5 feet way speaking directly at the camcorder.
6. Natural low light recordings are very bad (30-45 mins before sunset) and grainy.
7. HD picture quality only under ideal conditions (tons of light required and a tripod).
Pros
1. small and lightweight
2. Good concept...just poor execution.
3. Software is very user-friendly and has some neat features.
I returned the camcorder after 3 weeks of use. You're much better off buying a real digital camcorder that has image stabilization, longer battery life, better zoom and better recording quality.

I use my flip video as a coaching tool on my girls softball team. This camera makes it easy to record on the spot and play back. The only negative is that you can not do frame by frame on the camera only in the computer. Great small camera.

Wow. This Flip is so easy to use! We LOVE it. Travels well. Keeps battery life well. We instantly upload videos to our blog and to facebook. I didn't have to slave over an instruction manual -- in fact, never even looked at the paperwork. Just picked it up and started using it since it came with a charged battery. I love that it doesn't have any cords to lose either. Just plug it in to the computer. :)

Bought this so I could make DVDs for family. Have dad it for four weeks and still haven't succeeded in doing that. What I have learned is that to even try, I needed to buy over a hundred dollars worth of extra equipment and software (or try to guess which "free" software I can download safely, because Flip doesn't recommend any.)
Tried using the Flipshare online channel. Takes an eternity to load items,and now that they're there, I can't get rid of them - none of the "delete" options identified in the FAQs actually seem to exist on my screen.
No documentation or user's manual whatsoever comes with the unit - you literally get a multi-fold card that would fit in your pocket. That's it.
Overall, after a month this product has been almost totally useless to me. The only thing I have successfully done with it is upload video to Facebook, which was maybe fifth on my list of reasons why I bought it.
