"Very versatile!" 2009-10-24
By Sarah Fife
We picked up this machine so that we could watch DVDs and movies downloaded from itunes while backpacking and we have been thrilled with it!

We love that we can watch DVDs and listen to CDs as well as play media from our ipod (it even works as a digital photo frame!). The SD card reader also allows us to play some .avi movies which has been an unexpected bonus since it's not altogether clear which file types are supported.

Having read reviews, the volume level exceeded our expectations and, when the ambient noise has been too loud, having 2 headphone jacks has quickly solved the problem.

Also, some reviews have reported that it feels "cheaply made" or "flimsy" but we find it to be sturdy given the price point.

The only downsides we've found are:
1) The exposed screen - some might find this to be a problem though it does come with a sleeve which serves to protect it. We did buy an additional DVD player bag for extra protection and to carry the player and accessories and that has worked out well.
2) The battery life isn't great.
3) It does come with a remote (which cleverly hides away) but the remote doesn't control the volume or power.

All in all, the ups outweighs the downs...we thought that it was a great find for $100...we'd recommend it!

"Good Deal" 2009-10-20
By Kimmy (Chicago)
Got this from the Amazon Wearhouse. I had no problems with the way the product works and the condition was better then described by Amazon. The remote is not the most funtional design but since it is a small portable player I am not using is so far from me that I really need to worry about the remote.

"Non-portability for cars" 2009-10-08

This portable DVD player is not really usefull. It does not have any brackets or wires or any hooks which could be used to hang it on somewhere in the cards.

"Perfect for the car" 2009-10-04
By R. Finlayson
We bought two of these for each of our children for car use only b/c we couldn't afford the $3000 DVD system for our new minivan. I was looking for a tablet DVD player with memory card slot. This fit the bill and for $99 per player, it was a great price. Comes with both car and home electric plugs, which makes portability on trips nice (car ride and hotel room, etc). I love the whole concept and the picture quality is good. The plastic casing does feel rather cheapy, but the performance hasn't suffered for that.

My only real complaint, and this may be more with the file type, is that if you are viewing a film from the memory card you can't get to a menu for the chapters (we used DivX format...the latest version of DivX on Mac, whatever that is...had no problem there). So if you have to turn it off or if the battery dies, you can only fast forward and hope you can find your spot. Otherwise, great purchase.

Also, for anyone looking for an excellent and discrete headrest tablet DVD holder, this one works beautifully: [...].
