Browse more than 100,000 artist bios and hundreds of playlists in the Zune Marketplace.
The Zune is a 30 GB digital media player, but there's a twist. You can wirelessly share selected full-length sample tracks, playlists, pictures, or your own home-grown tunes directly from Zune to Zune (within 30 feet). You can listen to the full-length songs that you receive up to three times in three days, flag the ones you love, and easily buy them the next time you sync up--its like test-driving songs before you purchase an album.

The Zune's navigation is simple and intuitive with a scroll wheel and basic buttons, and the big, bright screen makes it easy to browse music and show off your favorite pictures and videos. This attractive, smart device stores up to 7,500 songs, 25,000 pictures, or 100 hours of video. Get creative. Make playlists on the go and watch slide shows while you're listening. And if you're watching video on the Zune, you'll be pleased with the landscape mode that allows you to get the most out of the vivid display.

Zune-to-Zune Sharing
Don't forget the primary principle of the Zune: sharing. With this device in hand you're holding an opportunity to share music and photos wirelessly from one Zune to another. Send your favorite tracks or images to your friends, or just about anyone with a Zune that's within your reach.

Whether you're walking down the street, in a room with a bunch of friends, at a concert, at the airport, or on the bus, you can whip out your Zune and see all the other Zune devices that surround you. In the blink of an eye you're connected to your best friend and you can send over your band's newest song. Another friend might get the hilarious podcast your little brother made at school, plus that hot new song you just downloaded from the Zune Marketplace. And, of course, there's all the good stuff that your friends want to send back your way. The connections are made and the Zune community grows.

Best of all, the song you sent (or received) isn't a short 30-second preview--it's the whole song. Your friend can sample the song up to three times in three days, flag it on their device and then buy it from the Zune Marketplace. You can send pictures, too. If you loved the photo of your dog at the park and you just have to share it with your buddies, shoot it off to whoever is around. And any pictures that are sent or received can be kept and viewed indefinitely.

Sometimes you don't want to be noticed, and the Zune allows you to fly under the radar. All you need to do is turn the wireless function off, or adjust the privacy settings to control whether people can see you are online. And if you want to keep your Zune private while studying in the library or reading the newspaper on the bus, you can also block Zune devices in wireless range from sending you a song.

Zune Marketplace
Zune makes it easy to find music you love--whether it's songs in your existing library or new music from the Zune Marketplace. You can easily import your existing music, pictures, and videos in many popular formats from your PC and browse millions of songs at the Zune Marketplace where you can purchase individual tracks or buy a Zune Pass subscription to download as many songs as you want for a flat fee. Plus, you can apply Microsoft Points towards the purchase of music so you can buy online without a credit card for added security. At the Zune Marketplace you can read over 100,000 artist biographies and features from leading magazines including XLR8R, NME, and FADED, and you'll have easy access to Billboard Charts, including Billboard 200, Hot 100 Songs, and more. "Very Nice for the Price" 2010-04-06
By E. W. Thomas (USA)
I got this player from ebay. I like the storage. It isn't too much to be overwhelming, but enough that when a favorite artist made a new song you'll have room. I like that I can put a picture of my own choosing for the wallpaper.

I don't lik that it doesn't continue from where you left off. I wish that there was an ebook reader and build-in speakers .

I think that it's a nice player for what I paid for it. It is my main mp3 player now. Would I get another Zune? I don't know, probably if it had an ebook reader.

"Zune" 2010-03-30
By Patrick Clements Jr. (RENTON, WA, US)
Well, it is a refurbished Zune, I can tell that because it tweaks out a little bit..stops in the middle of a song sometimes..but its about half what I paid for my last Zune..other than that I love Zunes, I already had the software downloaded on my computer so it didn't take long to put my 3700 songs on there.

"Extremely buggy mp3 player" 2010-03-25
By Perrin Walker
The Zune is a nightmare! I got it for Christmas in 2008, and was initially impressed. It is easy to use, can store a lot of data, and the battery life is long. What could be wrong? Well, I had my first encounter with trouble on December 31, 2008. Apparently, because Microsoft screwed up, every single Zune in the world crashed that day because of a leap-year bug. Microsoft instructed Zune users to let the battery die and wait until midnight GMT on New Years Day. On the surface, that sounds fine, but every time a battery in a device drains, it loses a little bit of potential charge.

It then worked for several months, and I was once again a happy customer. Three months later, I had another encounter with disaster. The factory-shipped Zune sync cable got stuck to the Zune and could not come out. I knew that this could not work, so I managed to get it out, but it came out out-of-alignment. So, I could not sync it or plug it into my pc. So, once the battery died, my Zune was finished. Thankfully, after spending 2 hours on the phone with a Bangladeshi phone support employee, I could send my Zune in for shipping. I got a replacement Zune, and was happy for about 6 more months.

Then, I had a weird bug with my Zune and had to reinstall the firmware. This actually happened several times throughout the Zune's life. After that, I was a happy customer again until last week. My Zune finished charging with the pc, and then would not start. When plugged into the PC, it would, but kept continuously resetting for eternity. I called Microsoft and they said that it was out of warranty and they could not replace it, unless I paid them the full price of a new device to do so. So, being the hacker I am, I opened the Zune to repair it, but could not succeed. It isn't worth the trouble, anyway.

In short, do not buy a Zune because it has a lifespan of about 1 year. It runs proprietary software, and most of your videos will not play on it. If you plug your Zune into a PC without Windows installed, your Zune Player will crash. If your Zune comes into contact with static electricity, it will shut off, which means I cannot even do my laundry without it resetting. It will normally reset without any apparent trigger a few times every month. I have had two Zunes, and both have been buggy.

"iPod is better!!!!" 2010-03-18
By Silly Girl "Julie" (Texas)
I received this Zune as a Christmas gift. After 4-6 months it shut down completely. I sent it back to Zune for repair, which took 2 months! I have had nothing but problems with it for 2 years. Battery life is ok, but the apps are seriously lacking. Ever since the Zune HD came out, apps are impossible to get for this Zune. iPod has thousands of apps! Save your time and money and go with iPod.

"Zune replaced my Ipod" 2010-03-13
By C. Baumgarten (Las Vegas, NV)
I'm typing this review with my trusty old Ipod on the shelf. The Zune just plain eats the Ipod up. Better sound (320 kbps)
Much bigger display, easier controls, faster software, doesn't erase my music, doesn't crash, ect.
Some reviews like the click wheel better. I don't. I can work the Zune in my pocket. Volume, next song, ect. I can also plug it into my TV with a 5 dollar cord from Walmart and watch music videos in my Tv. Right through the top headphone jack. It's a 1/4 inch to rca video adaptor. It shuts of the display on the Zune so the battery lasts longer.

watch out Ipod, Zune is here.
